Stereogum, New Noise, and AdHoc favorites Deal Casino debut their latest single “Happy People” (& b-side “Terraforming”) from the upcoming album LLC. The strongest band to emerge from the burgeoning Asbury Park indie scene, the band started in their current incarnation in 2013, and has become a local phenomenon, selling out venues like the Stone Pony and House of Independents.
“Happy People” clashes a traditional 4-piece rock setup with an analog synthesizer hobby, and the result is what would have been the proper follow up to MGMT’s first record. The lyrics, like much of Deal Casino’s latest, struggle with a world that doesn’t make any sense: “I want to understand, how, happy people smile all the time.”
Deal Casino consists of band members Joe Parella, Jon Rodney, Joe Cowell and Chris Donofrio. The band resides in Asbury Park, New Jersey and draws inspiration from artists like Jellyfish, Neil Young, The Bandand Fleetwood Mac. After a series of EPs, Deal Casino released their self-titled LP in 2017. The band releases their next LP,LLC,in November 2018
