I once heard Henry Rollins say he would NEVER participate in a Black Flag reunion. He was so firm and loud when he said this, that I thought there was absolutely no possible negotiation. If you have heard Rollins speak, you know what I mean… Sure last night was not exactly a Black Flag reunion, but Henry Rollins nevertheless did sing a song of the famous hardcore band in duo with Cyndi Lauper.

He was indeed one of the guests of Lauper’s ‘Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays’, a benefit event happening every year in Los Angeles whose proceeds go to Lauper’s True Colors United, a charity preventing homelessness in the LGBTQ and youth community.

Lauper and Rollins covered together Black Flag’s ‘Rise Above’, and I am sure every iPhones in the room was up to capture this moment. As expected, the performance was raw and raucous and Cyndi had pulled her hair in a neon yellow mohawk for the occasion

She also did a duo with Marilyn Manson, and plenty of famous pop-rock stars were present from Kesha, to Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell, Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Go’s, King Princess, Brandi Carlile, Billy Porter, Lily Tomlin, songwriter Justin Tranter, the Offspring’s Dexter Holland …
