Cuz There Aren't Enough Books About KISS Yet, 'Nothin' To Lose: The Making Of KISS (1972-1975)'

560 pages of KISS- o-belia.  As the title of this Ken Sharp book notes these are the ‘formative’ years for the legendary band KISS.  There are only so many ways to tell a storpy before it becomes a farce.  What can be offered up as ‘new’ after all these years?

The information compiled from over 200 interviews charts the bands beginnings through the release of 1975’s mega hit album “Alive”

The contributors represent the bong fueled decade and most of these folks toured with KISS in one way or another.  Those chiming in include the mighty  Bob Seger, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Rush, Slade, Blue Oyster Cult, Mott The Hoople, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Raspberries, James Gang, Montrose, Black Oak Arkansas, Ted Nugent, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, New York Dolls, Iggy & the Stooges, The Ramones, Suzi Quatro, Savoy Brown, Argent, Nazareth, Uriah Heep, Suzi Quatro, Leslie West, Status Quo, Jo Jo Gunne, The Rockets and Wishbone Ash and of course, ‘many more’

Supposedly this will be a ‘fly on the wall’ vantage point with interviews from the band, their producers as well as roadies and music journalists.  Basically anyone who had anything to say about these guys get their paragraph, all reporting the same thing that has been said in every bio.  New anecdotes I suppose, funny shared scenarios and just another shelf hogger in the mega brand of KISS.

There really isn’t much more to say about these guys.  I suppose we can get a book out about the band before they were born, the ‘conception days’ or perhaps the ‘toddler years’ but other than that until one of these guys die- we’re going to get a periodic hand wave with palm up (that’s a gimme some money gesture in case you didn’t get it).  Once someone dies the others can write the obligatory ‘tell all’ book and all the other scrappers can do the life in review.  Until then, there is this.

September 10th release date—die hards only
