Comment: As we reach the end of summer, one question remains. What on earth is 2019 about musically? With no centrifugal force to the music business (even what we clung to last year is in the rearview mirror: Southern trap, soundcloud, Latino Urbano), the only consistency is pop singer songwriters bringing in top producers to salt the mines of pop, and a SoCal vibe that permeates a lot of indie pop. Otherwise, what connects Ariana to Billie to Rosalia to Lil Nas X is absolutely nothing.
